H'm, the 'Others' field in the survey doesn't allow for long-winded answers.

Totally understand that there are all these social situations in which one is expected to be accompanied... but finding myself alone in whatever city I happen to be in at the moment isn't going to stop me from going somewhere I'm interested in checking out. ;)

Oops, I should have changed the default length and also made an option for travel. Don't know how I forgot that one! :) I suppose going out alone in a foreign city beats sitting around in a hotel room :)

It sounds sort of tautological, but being alone is really only a problem when you want company. If you're not feeling that need, all the decision-making gets easier on your own: you do whatever suits your fancy, at whatever pace you like. Eat when you like, sleep when you like, get absorbed in whatever you like, wander off in whatever direction you like. I often find days spent alone quite refreshing.
