Grandma
Last night I got a call that my grandma had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. This morning my mom called to tell me there is nothing they can really do for her :( I feel so helpless.

You are helpless when it comes to how this unfolds. She may die, she may survive. If she survives she may be fine or have any degree of cognitive impairment. It depends on the stroke. My grandmother had a stroke, nearly died, but survived and lived 15 more years. Others die within a few minutes.

You can hope things go well for her and be thankful if she does die that it's by a stroke. We all die, and there are much worse ways to go. Otherwise try to comfort yourself, keep yourself occupied. Doing so is not selfish. It's out of your hands.

Go for a walk, get some air and sun, see a close friend. Enjoy your time in the world; this is what most grandmothers want their granddaughters to do.

If I have any surplus, nay, any Good Karma points, I'll send them your way.

I'm so, so sorry. It's rough, I know, having been through this a few years ago.

I remember seeing the sunrise the morning after my grandma died a few years ago and thinking, "I'm so lucky to be able to see this." I hope you'll find joy in spite of what comes your way in the coming weeks.
