The Last 24 Hours [Apr. 28th, 2007|05:22 pm]
The last 24 hours of my life were amusing enough to write something quick.

  • I tried ice skating for the first time with Alex (aka Cap'n Al). I did really well. Figured out the backward skating thing too. Just need to work on flipping around more smoothly ;)

  • Went out to a pub a few doors down from my place and played some darts with my friend Andrew. I think I am getting worse at that :/

  • Witnessed a huge fight in front of club xcel and had a gun fired about 5 feet away from my head as I tried to escape to the back entrance of my place. I think he was just trying to scare the other guy. Fired in the air. But still, doesn't make me like this town more. No news that I could see about it. Wouldn't wanna ruin the revitalization of downtown?

  • Heard from some people who I haven't talked to in awhile. Including Jasmine who called me at 3:00am. We will be hanging out later this week. We once had a thing.

  • I will be hanging out with Mark tonight, who was basically my first real boyfriend. We met BBSing. He was a SysOp. I was a SysOp. It was true love over 300 baud. Well, his modem was better... ;P

Hope everyone is doing well. Sorry about being a crappy LJ friend ;P I have been pretty busy lately. Started a company. Will probably never finish my thesis at this rate. I have also been oddly social. I am not sure it is such a good thing.

I think I missed something in my last 24 hours list. Hmmmm. Can too much beer cause memory loss when you aren't drunk? ;P

Hosting [Apr. 20th, 2007|01:51 pm]
Looks like I am going to be losing my hosting. I have had my domains running on a friend's machine for years, but the servers are probably going away soon. So if anyone has some space for me or any suggestions, please let me know :)

Single & Art [Mar. 29th, 2007|04:12 pm]
Just realized that I have been single almost 4 months! I think that is some kinda record ;)

Also, I am looking for art / photography for my walls. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if any of you might actually have something I could hang on my walls ;) I would much rather have something that has some meaning to me or was done by someone I at least know a little bit. My walls are very naked right now...

Evidence of Kitty Naughtiness :P [Mar. 7th, 2007|10:24 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , ]

So, I got a MacBook for doing some web development testing in OSX. It came with this app called "Photo Booth", which I found useful today for getting evidence of what I have to deal with while trying to work. Freckles has recently decided that he needs to constantly be wrapped around my neck when I am here, whether I am sitting here working or walking into the kitchen... he is there.

Ironically... it says on my Google calendar for the 17th "Everything is supposed to get better". When I broke up with my last BF a friend told me things would get better and I said "when?", and was told February 17th. It amused me, so I put it on my calendar. It was a very nice day actually, until I got the call that my grandma was in the hospital :/

She isn't allowed to die damn it :( I told her she has to live at least until I have children and they get the chance to know her. *sigh*

Grandma [Feb. 18th, 2007|03:33 pm]
Last night I got a call that my grandma had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. This morning my mom called to tell me there is nothing they can really do for her :( I feel so helpless.

Starschmucks [Feb. 16th, 2007|07:23 pm]
Someone needs to start a decent cafe near Google. I have tried to locate one today with no luck. There is a place right near Google called Michael's Cafe, but for some reason the wifi doesn't work there and they don't really have much choice coffee wise. It is more of an eating place. There only seems to be Starbucks around here. Oddly Google Maps showed one pretty much in one of their parking lots and there definitely isn't one there. It might be in another building around there, I dunno.

Ever since I moved into my loft I have been thinking a lot about the way towns are laid out here in the states. One of my favorite things about living in Europe was that it was easy to walk everywhere you needed to go. If there was a grocery store near my loft I would be totally set. There are places to eat, parks, museums / galleries, and even an extremely noisy club right next to me ;P, but the nearest grocery store is a bit of a stretch (2-3 miles).

On the walk to this cafe I noticed there were tons of businesses clumped together, all single story buildings, with no restaurants or housing nearby. I can see some benefits to it, but generally it really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Greetings from O'Hare [Feb. 15th, 2007|07:40 pm]
[Current Location |ORD]
[mood | curious]

So, after arriving in O'Hare from Detroit, a guy comes up to me and says "Thank you. I enjoyed watching you in Detroit."

I noticed he was looking over at me a bit while I was sitting on the ground and working in Detroit Metro. He was actually rather handsome and looked like a business man. Had a nice smile. Not really sure what to make of it or why I am even thinking about it. I do quite a bit of people watching myself and I too have enjoyed watching certain people before, but I have never told them. Hmmm...

Back! [Jan. 28th, 2007|04:10 am]
So, I am back in the states. And still homeless :P I am thinking the best option would be to find a month-to-month rental here until I finish my thesis and then see where to go next...

In about a week I have no place to live... [Jan. 19th, 2007|03:38 pm]
and at this point, I don't have any plans either. I would like to stay here, but I need a visa or something. I would like to find something somewhat long term because of my cats and the such. I need to get my thesis done too, but I can do that from anywhere. Just need to go back to MI for my defense. So dear livejournal users, since I cannot figure it out, tell me where I should live :P

Five random likes and dislikes :P [Jan. 19th, 2007|03:07 pm]
Likes:

  1. When people eat oranges (and similar fruit) on trains ;P

  2. Hearing "Ade!" at the supermarket

  3. <3 Broetchen

  4. Saying "Prost" multiple times during one drink because we have either had one too many or are just generally feeling good :P

  5. Cute little kids that make me grin, like the one outside Christian's apartment who proudly told us "Ich darf Papas Schuhe tragen!" while holding some shoes almost as big as her :D

Dislikes:

  1. Smoking. Everywhere. There is no escape.

  2. When clerks throw money down on the counter instead of handing it to me. And there are way too many coins here for that :P

  3. Not being able to buy things 24/7 and having difficulty finding some items like a splitter for headphones. (Although it really isn't that big of a deal ;)

  4. Ue-eier with boring one-piece toys. I want more smart cars! Those were neat! What happened to the good ue-eier engineers?!

  5. The plastic ring thingy that stays attached to bottle caps here.

Random things in Berlin [Jan. 4th, 2007|02:30 pm]
[Tags|, , , , ]

Today I went into a "Hip Hop" store, because I thought they might have this Turkish hip hop CD I have been looking for, but all they really had was spray paint. So that is what hip hop is all about!

Then I saw a guy with like 6 dogs tied to wagon he was riding around town in :P He went by too quickly for me to get my cam out :/

yay for moms? [Dec. 19th, 2006|07:59 pm]
Btw, I think I need to write this down here just for the record. When I told my mother that my BF and I broke up, she told me that I could still give her grandchildren. She said, "there is always artificial insemination" ...
